Farewell to Bush

As President Bush's term in office is approaching the end, America, Israel and indeed, the world are left facing a resurgent global Islamo-Nazism, Hamas strengthening its rule in the Palestinian territories, the real threat of a nuclear Iran while an inexperienced, naive new President in comes into the White House. To his detractors, Bush will forever be "the devil", no matter that he kept us secure for 7 years (following the 9/11 mass murder), he liberated 30 millions Iraqis from one of history's most despicable maniacs, he increased aid to Africa and committed funds in the fight against AIDS at unprecedented levels and that during his term, 10 millions new jobs have been created and black home ownership was the highest in history...His far left lunatic detractors will always hate the man because he ruled based on his faith and convictions and not based on polls (as his predecessor). But to Jews in general, and Israelis, in particular, Bush epitomized the perfect friend and ally.

When President Bush spoke before Israel’s Knesset on May 15, 2008- the day of the 60^th Anniversary of Israel’s creation as a Jewish State-he gave an inspirational speech reflecting on what Israel meant to him, and what its existence means to the United States as a nation. One can say that it was certainly the most pro-Israel speech ever given by an American President.

George W. Bush’s commitment to Israel and his solidarity with the world’s Jews led me to reflect on the great irony that such a high percentage of American Jews are overwhelmingly Democrats, have blindly opposed the policies of the Bush administration and have foolishly followed on the far left road of hatred towards Bush personally...

Noam Neusner, a communications consultant, speechwriter and Jewish liaison for Bush (between 2002-2005) wrote in a recent Op-Ed that "President Bush was more Zionist than many Israelis, more mindful of Jewish history than many Jews." On December 15, President George W. Bush held the annual Hanukkah party at the White House. Although other Presidents have held Menorah lighting ceremonies, President Bush and his wife were the first to hold a party to celebrate the occasion. At the grandiose ceremony where more than 600 Jewish friends and guests were present, the Menorah was lit up by the grandsons of Harry Truman and David Ben Gurion. Fouad Ajami concludes that when President Bush leaves office, his "Diplomacy of Freedom" (responsible for liberating Afghanistan from the Taliban, Iraq from Saddam Hussein, Lebanon from the Syrian army and Qaddafi renouncing his quest for WMD) will be gone probably for ever. I have no doubt that History will judge Bush much more favorably that his present detractors, but until then, I say "Thank You, Mr. President!"

History Lessons

Speaking before the Knesset on the 60th Anniversary of founding of the State of Israel, President Bush took a shot at those who claim that talking with terrorists will result in "peace" and said that they are experiencing a “foolish delusion.”














Feeling the pinch, the Democrats immediately launched a barrage of "outrage and criticism" although Bush never mentioned them or any one by name. Apparently, if the shoe fits....

"Personal and aggressive diplomacy" with Iran is one of Obama's stated mantras so he was one the first to feel personally attacked. The Senator is obviously ignorant of history, which clearly shows the fallacies of such irresponsible policies.

The Left "New Appeasement" theory has its roots in the basic belief that America is "down right a mean country" (Michelle Obama) and as such, we are the cause of all that's evil in the world. American "Imperialism and Capitalism" is what pushes people to blow themselves up and kill innocents who do not agree with them. Since we are the problem, the theory goes, we should blame ourselves and "reach out" to those poor creatures out there ("terrorists have mother and fathers too" - Rosie O'Donnell), understand them, negotiate with them and we will leave like a big happy family.
If there were no history to contradict such rosy-psychedelic-marijuana smoke-filled theory, I'd simply say "Stop smoking the grass and wise up!". But when history provides so much testimony to the dangers of this type of thought, I think that entertaining it is not only delusional, but down right criminally insane.

France and Britain appeased monsters like Hitler and Mussolini because they felt that they were "misunderstood" and that they shared some blame in the conclusion of WW I ("the Treaty of Versailles was too harsh on Germany"). Meeting with Daladier and Chamberlain served only to legitimize Hitler and show him as a world "leader" instead of the murderous thug that he and his Nazi gang were.

Obama meeting with the new Hitler from Tehran will serve the same purpose, since Obama and the Left are completely ignorant of radical Islam's true plans. Obama doesn't know or doesn't care that he will be talking with a genocidal maniac who sees the world in terms of Islam and the rest and whose stated dream is to bring about an Apocalypse which will usher in the Age of Lost Imam.

Just like Chamberlain and his group of deluded politicians thought that what is written in "Mein Kampf" should not be taken seriously, so do Obama, Hillary and their Leftist cohorts ignore the stated goals of today's Islamo-Nazis. This political blindness has the potential to do much more damage than the casual political expediency which we're witnessing from the Democratic Party. Like in the late 1930's, this policy can bring about another world war. And if Iran is allowed to acquire nuclear weapons, it may just cause the Armageddon that the Hitler from Tehran is praying for.

We need a president who is not paranoid about confronting these threats and does not have a problem with hunting down terrorists and killing them. You do not negotiate with Al-Qaeda, Hamas or Hezbollah. You crush them! And this is how you send a message to their masters in Damascus or Tehran that you mean business and they are next.
After seeing the US resolute in the wake of 9/11, Qaddafi thought it is wise to abandon his weapons of mass destruction dreams. Standing firm and resolute with Iran will send the message to its "dogs" - Syria, Hezbollah, Hamas that the US is serious about confronting them and the military option is on the table.

Obama and Hillary are too weak and too dependent on their far left base to confront Islamo-Nazism. Only John McCain can continue the Bush Doctrine of Preemptive strikes against criminal nations.

Those who do not know history are condemned to repeat it.

America, the Beautiful

No one would consider Bob Geldof a Bush supporter. The ex-Boomtown Rats rock star has been vocal in his criticism of Bush as well as his support for Africa. After joining Bush on his latest visit to Africa, Geldof had the chance to spend some time with the President while Air Force One was cruising Africa from its East Coast to its West Coast and as a result he wrote a diary about this whole experience. It is not entirely flattering to the US President, but it is honest and more importantly, it recognizes what a great country America really is. Here are a few excertps from

The Most Powerful Man in the World studied the front cover. "Geldof in Africa — 'The international best seller.' You write that bit yourself?"
"That's right. It's called marketing. Something you obviously have no clue about or else I wouldn't have to be here telling people your Africa story."

It is some story. And I have always wondered why it was never told properly to the American people, who were paying for it. It was, for example, Bush who initiated the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) with cross-party support led by Senators John Kerry and Bill Frist. In 2003, only 50,000 Africans were on HIV antiretroviral drugs — and they had to pay for their own medicine. Today, 1.3 million are receiving medicines free of charge. The U.S. also contributes one-third of the money for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria — which treats another 1.5 million. It contributes 50% of all food aid (...). On a seven-day trip through Africa, Bush announced a new $350 million fund for other neglected tropical diseases that can be easily eradicated; a program to distribute 5.2 million mosquito nets to Tanzanian kids; and contracts worth around $1.2 billion in Tanzania and Ghana from the Millennium Challenge Account, another initiative of the Bush Administration.

So why doesn't America know about this? "I tried to tell them. But the press weren't much interested," says Bush. There are always a couple of lines in the State of the Union, but not enough so that anyone noticed, and the press really isn't interested.

"We're trying to build a humanitarian mission that would train up soldiers for peace and security so that African nations are more capable of dealing with Africa's conflicts. You agree with that dontcha?" Indeed I do. The British intervention in Sierra Leone stopped and prevented a catastrophe, as did U.S. action in Liberia. Later, in public, Bush says, "I want to dispel the notion that all of a sudden America is bringing all kinds of military to Africa. It's simply not true ... That's baloney, or as we say in Texas — that's bull!"

....As for the rest of the world, for all their oft-spoken pieties, they seem to be able to agree on precisely nothing. Meanwhile, the rape and killing continue, Khartoum plays its game of murder and we won't even pay for the helicopters that the U.N. forces need to protect themselves. Pathetic.

"See, I believe we're in an ideological struggle with extremism," says the President. "These people prey on the hopeless. That's why this trip is a mission undertaken with the deepest sense of humanity, because those other folks will just use vulnerable people for evil. Like in Iraq."
I don't want to go there. I have my views and they're at odds with his, and I don't want to spoil the interview or be rude in the face of his hospitality.

"Mr. President, please. There are things you've done I could never possibly agree with and there are things I've done in my life that you would disapprove of, too. And that would make your hospitality awkward. The cost has been too much. History will play itself out." "I think history will prove me right," he shoots back. "Who knows," I say. He is convinced, like Tony Blair, that he made the right decision. "I'm comfortable with that decision," he says.

(...) Bush has an M.B.A. He thinks like a businessman in terms of the bottom line. Results. Profit and loss. There is an empiricism to a lot of his furthest-reaching policies on Africa. Correctly, he's big on trade. "A 1% increase in trade from Africa," he says, "will mean more money than all the aid put together annually." He's proud that he twice reauthorized the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), a modestly revolutionary Clinton Administration initiative that enabled previously heavily taxed exports to enter the U.S. tax-free. (...) the beneficial impact of AGOA on such places as the tiny country of Lesotho, and its growing textile industry, has been startling.

The Bush regime has been divisive — but not in Africa. I read it has been incompetent — but not in Africa. It has created bitterness — but not here in Africa. Here, his administration has saved millions of lives.

The US has saved millions of lives not only in Africa, but also in the Middle East, Europe, Asia and anywhere else in the World were there was a need. Who else would have done it if not us - France, the European Union, the UN? Maybe even Michelle Obama can now be proud of her country...regardless of her husband political fortunes.
